Members of our experienced Management Team include:
Joseph J. McGarry President and CEO
Mr. McGarry co-founded Benefit Management Inc. (BMI) in 1977.
He is a charter member of the New England Employee Benefit Council, the Rhode Island Employee Benefit
Discussion Group and a member of the National Institute of Pension Administrators.
Prior to BMI he was associated with employee benefit consulting firms in Philadelphia and Providence.
In his 30 years in the industry, Mr. McGarry has developed and maintained over 1,000 client relationships.
Mr. McGarry is a graduate of Northeastern University and a member of their Executive Alumni Forum.
He has also received specialized training in employee benefit programs and products as a member of The
Travelers Insurance Company.
Robert I. Bostian Jr. Executive Vice President
Mr. Bostian has been associated with BMI since 1978. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of
the American Academy of Actuaries, a Member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries and a Fellow of the
Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Mr. Bostian is an Enrolled Actuary by the Joint Board for the Enrollment
of Actuaries of the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor permitting him to perform actuarial services
for pension plans required by federal statutes and regulations. Mr. Bostian earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied
Mathematics from Brown University.
Robyn E. Rosenthal Vice President
Ms. Rosenthal has been associated with BMI since 1990. She is a member of the American Academy Actuaries
and an Enrolled Actuary. As Vice President of Administration, she oversees the recordkeeping and administration
staff which we refer to as Plan Advisors. Ms. Rosenthal earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from
the City College of New York and Master of Science from Boston University.
Steven A. Hanson Vice President
Mr. Hanson has been associated with BMI since 1997. He manages the daily recordkeeping system working with
our mutual fund trading partners to upload daily pricing files and to execute trades that have been requested
on the VRU or on-line. His staff enters payroll files into the system. Mr. Hanson has been active in the
employee benefits field since 1987 and has worked for a major mutual fund company and bank trust department.
Mr. Hanson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island and his Masters
in Business Administration from Bryant College.
